How I can support you

I’m a provisionally registered counsellor with the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC), with a Bachelor of Counselling and Addictions.

I work with people from all walks of life, particularly young people aged 12+ and adults, who are navigating grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, burnout, identity shifts, parenthood, loneliness, or a sense of disconnection from themselves.

At the centre of my practice is a holistic approach to wellbeing, grounded in Sir Mason Durie’s Te Whare Tapa Whā, which recognises the interconnectedness of tinana (physical), hinengaro (mental and emotional), wairua (spiritual), whānau (relational), and whenua (place and belonging). I take a pluralistic approach, meaning we work together to find what feels right for you. This may include acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, walk and talk sessions, creative expression, or gentle kōrero — and always the option of a cup of tea.

Healing is a deeply personal journey, and discovering what works best for you is central to our work together.

I offer online sessions, as well as in-person sessions in the Ngāmotu (New Plymouth) area.

Before beginning counselling, I offer a free initial kōrero. This is an opportunity for us to connect, discuss what’s bringing you to counselling, and see whether working together feels like the right fit for you.

Values

Whakawhanaungatanga- Connection

Whakawhanaungatanga-Connection sits at the heart of my mahi. I take time to honour who you are and where you come from, your whakapapa, the places that have shaped you, and the stories you carry. I don’t expect you to be vulnerable in a space that feels clinical or cold. I bring my humanity into the room. We build trust together, slowly and honestly, and from there we explore what you need at your own pace.

Honouring the Unspoken

Not everything can be put into words. I make room for the intuitive, the emotional, the creative, and the felt experience.

Manaakitanga - Care & Respect

You are welcomed exactly as you are. I hold your story with compassion, dignity, confidentiality and deep respect. Guided by manaakitanga, I work to uphold the dignity and mana of all people. My practice welcomes and supports Takatāpui and LGBTQIA+ communities, neurodivergent and disabled people, and people of all cultures, beliefs, bodies, and experiences.

Aroha - Heart led practice

I bring presence, empathy, and emotional honesty. I honour the courage it takes to show up.

Hauora - Holistic Wellbeing

I work with the whole of you — mind, body, emotions, wairua and the parts of your life that shape your sense of self.

Self - Determination

Self - determination reflects my commitment to supporting tangata whaiora to lead their own healing journeys. This means respecting each person’s autonomy, choices, and lived experience, and recognising them as the expert in their own life. I work in ways that empower people to make informed decisions and move at a pace that feels right for them.

Pono- Integrity and Honesty

Practising with honesty, transparency, and ethical care, to support a space where you can feel safe to be authentic and open.
